Well James finally found his way out of Queenstown, NZ just in time to celebrate the holidays down under. It is has been a whirlwind for both of us since he landed but we are so thrilled about all the adventures ahead of us.
Moving from the mountains to the city, not to mention to the corner of my friend’s bedroom, has been a bit of a shock for him and is taking some adjusting but there is no doubt we are enjoying our time together again. Since I picked him up from the airport, we went to a disco, had chill time at his new crib (Olivia’s), explored pretty much every corner of the city and visited some Brisbane sights with friends. I think we are both still getting used to the idea of being in the same city and having the convenience of seeing each other when we feel like it, rather than the next time we can catch a flight. It is such a wild time, especially since we are doing it in a foreign country, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
The next couple weeks ahead are going to be equally as wild, from celebrating our first Christmas away from our families in another country to a completely unplanned road-trip down to Sydney with three friends for New Year’s. We’ve actually been planning on road-tripping for months, as we are going to the music festival called Field Day down there, but haven’t booked any hotels or anything. We have a car and each other – the rest should be interesting. Our plan is to camp at various sites on the way down but with the holidays being such a crazy time for people to travel in Australia, it’ll be fun to see how it all turns out.
I’m thinking of everyone back home during this time and wishing all my wonderful family and friends a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. It is such a weird feeling being so far from everything I’ve ever known during the holidays but it has given me an exciting new experience and perspective. James and I will be celebrating with our friends in Noosa, thinking of our families of course, but also enjoying the beautiful Australian views. Cheers to the adventures ahead!
